Three Advance to Hunt Seat Zone Finals
Three members of the Colby Community College equestrian team advanced to the Zone 8 Finals next month in Palo Alto, Calif., after completing the regular season on March 11 and then the Zone 8 Region 5 Hunt Seat Regionals on March 12. Colorado College in Colorado Springs hosted both shows.
In the season finale on Saturday, Summer Biscan, Jessica Vassar, and Isabella Ostmeyer moved on to compete in Sunday's regional in the novice equitation on the flat division. Nellie Kaner, Makendra Hunt, and Michaela Derickson qualified to ride Sunday in introductory equitation on the flat.
The top two in each division travel to the Zone 8 Finals held at Stanford University on April 8. Out of 13 riders in novice equitation on the flat, Ostmeyer was champion, and Biscan was reserve champion. Vassar placed 6th.
Kaner is also going to Palo Alto following her reserve champion finish in introductory equitation on the flat. Hunt and Derickson finished 4th and 5th, respectively.
"Our hunt seat team came well prepared for our last show of the season as well as the regional competition," said Coach Sara Jamison. " All of the regional qualifiers had strong rides on Sunday and showed confidently against a lot of tough competition. It's exciting to have three moving on to the zone finals!"
