Armstrong, Clark Ink Softball Letters
Colby Community College softball teammates Kaylee Armstrong and Shailey Clark committed to play at the next level on Tuesday, signing letters of intent for Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva.
Members of the Great American Conference, the NWOSU Rangers compete at the Division II level of the NCAA.
The signings took place during a brief period between the regular season finale and the start of the playoffs on May 5.
Heading into the postseason, Armstrong's career at Colby consists of a .413 batting average with 23 home runs while driving in 151 and stealing 45 bases in 46 attempts. In 2023, the Erie, Colo., infielder was the week-12 Jayhawk Conference player of the week. During that time, she had 12 hits, including four home runs while driving in 16. In 2022, she was Jayhawk Conference and Region VI honorable mention.
Clark leads the Trojans this season with 12 home runs. Entering the playoffs, she's hitting .479 with an on-base percentage of .568. She was the week-nine conference player of the week after going 12 for 21 from the plate to post a .571 average. The infielder from Great Bend was named conference and region honorable mention in 2022.
The Trojans begin the Region IV Softball Championship Friday in Dodge City against the hometown Conquistadors. The first pitch at Legends Park is scheduled for 7 p.m.
