Hot Shooting Lifts Pratt Over Colby
Four days after picking up their first conference win, the Colby Trojans dropped a road game to the Pratt Community College Beavers on Wednesday, 94-88.
Pratt used hot shooting to nearly reach the century mark, pouring it in at a pace of 64% from the field and 57% from beyond the arc. The Trojans kept pace and trailed 35-34 with 3:11 remaining in the first half, but a late run took the Beavers into the break up 47-39.
Several efforts by the Trojans in the second frame to close the gap would be rejected by the Beavers. Consistent shooting allowed the Beavers to lead the entire second half and go up by as many as 20 with eight minutes to go. The Trojans rallied to get within five, but Pratt held on for the win.
Four Trojans scored in double figures, led by a career-high 27 from Anthony Sellars. Joshua O'Garro chipped in 24. Elijah Wood and Marco Moreau each fired off 10 points.
Pratt's Quintin Metcalf finished with 26 points and nine rebounds. Sterling Young had 16 points, and Chidiebere Obichere added 14.
After a bye this week, the Trojans return to the Colby Event Center on Feb 15 for a 7:30 p.m. start against Hutchinson Community College.
