The Colby Community College Trojans improved their record to 2-1 as they defeated the Lamar Lopes 90-79 Saturday night at the Colby Event Center.
In a game that saw five ties and 14 lead changes, it was back-and-forth action in the first half, where neither team asserted dominance. Lamar gained a seven-point lead midway through the first half, but Colby quickly erased the deficit. The Trojans hit a three at the buzzer to end the first half deadlocked at 37. Colby then spurred a 53-point second-half stanza and closed the game with their largest lead of 11.
All five Colby starters finished in double figures. Josh O'Garro led the Trojans with 24 points and 13 rebounds. Mike Bell chipped in 16, followed by Anthony Sellars and Jaxon Pillich with 15 each. Elijah Wood hit two second-half threes to contribute 12.
Lamar was led by DeAngelo Horn with 30 points and 10 rebounds. Kris Cook hit four threes to add 16, while Meechie Terry was also in double figures with 11.
The Trojans are back at the Event Center on Monday night against Northeastern Junior College for a 7 p.m. tip.
