Athletics continues academic tradition
51 students earn All-Academic
Colby Community College student-athletes maintained the institution's historical standard of classroom achievement, as reflected by the National Junior College Athletic Association's 2021-22 All-Academic Awards. Fifty-one Trojans made the list, and seven teams attained at least a 3.0 grade point average. Six of the seven finished in the top 25 nationally.
"I could not be more proud of our student-athletes and coaches for such an amazing year in the classroom," said CCC Athletic Director Mike Saddler. "The 2021-22 school year was one of the best academic years in Trojan athletics history. Many of our athletes and teams that excelled on the field or court were even more impressive in the classroom. Their success embodies what it means to be a student-athlete at Colby Community College."
Volleyball had the third-best GPA in the country with a 3.79, while softball earned a 3.67. Women's cross country came in at 3.52, and women's basketball posted a 3.43. Other achievers are baseball (3.36), women's outdoor track and field (3.10), and women's indoor track and field (3.06).
To earn NJCAA All-Academic first-team recognition, a student must carry a 4.0 grade point average. Second-team honorees have a GPA between 3.80 and 3.99, and third-team members post an average between 3.60 to 3.79.
