Cross country's Hodsden and Nord moving on
Colby Community College women's cross country runners Regan Hodsden and Cierra Nord recently made commitments to run at four-year colleges in 2022.
Division II Fort Hays State University will be the next stop for Hodsden, who hails from Mitchell, Neb. As a sophomore, she was runner-up at the Region VI Championships with a time of 19:18.28 and became an All-American at the national meet by posting an 18.54 mark. In October, she was the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NJCAA Division I athlete of the week after her 5K performance at the Fort Hays State Tiger Classic with a personal best of 18:47.4.
"We are excited to have Regan join the FHSU squad for next season," said Fort Hays State Head Cross Country Coach Dr. Jason McCullough. "She is a talented student-athlete who will strengthen the distance team for the next several years!"
Nord will compete for the Division I University of Tennessee at Martin. The Larned native was an all-Region VI performer with a time of 20.27.72.
UTM Coach Kevin Mangan said will be a good fit for the campus.
"She clicked well with our women's team on her visit and has demonstrated she can balance academics and athletics and be successful at both," he said. "We're excited she chose our team to help her continue to grow and improve as a runner for the next couple of years."
