The Colby Community College men's and women's cross country teams opened their seasons Saturday at the Greeno/Dirksen Invite in Lincoln, Neb.
Three Trojans competed on the women's squad. Cierra Nord ran the 5K race in 19:28, a personal best by 34 seconds.
The men finished 3rd out of 17 teams in the Gold division. They were second among two-year colleges and topped region rival and No. 3-ranked Cloud County.
The event marked the first race in the United States for Colby's top six runners. Ricardo Barbosa (24:44.20) led the Trojans, followed by Sanele Masondo (24:50.53).
The Trojans now prepare for their first home meet in two years as they host the Region VI Preview on Oct. 2 at the Meadow Lake Golf Course.
