Trojans Earn KJCCC Player of the Week Awards in Week 4
COLBY, Kan. - Colby Community College was awarded two KJCCC Player of the Week awards for week four of the volleyball season.
COLBY, Kan. – Colby's Amanda Caputi and Camila Canedo have earned Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Division 1 Volleyball Players of the Week for week four of the 2024 volleyball season.
Setter of the Week (Amanda Caputi – Colby) – Caputi, the current NJCAA Division 1 volleyball leader in assists per set with 11.22 assists per set, continued to run the Colby offense helping them to a 4-0 week. The Trojans had one road conference win against Pratt and went 3-0 in the Colby Classic over the weekend with wins over Iowa Western, Lamar, and Otero. In Colby's win vs. Lamar, Caputi had her first double-double with 38 assists and 10 digs. Running a 5-1 offense, Caputi tallied 150 assists in the 12 sets played, averaging 12.50 per set. The freshman also had 26 digs, averaging 2.17 per set, 13 blocks, and added 3 service aces.
Defensive Player of the Week (Camila Canedo – Colby) – Canedo helped Colby to a 4-0 week with a conference win on the road at Pratt, and three wins in the Colby Classic against Otero, Iowa Western, and Lamar. This past week, Canedo averaged 5.17 digs per set, tallying 62 digs over 12 sets. The sophomore libero also added five service aces and had 11 assists.
The Trojans will be back in action on Saturday, September 21, as they take on Seward County at 2PM CT.
