All-conference for three volleyball players
Three members of the Colby Community College volleyball team closed out their careers with All-Jayhawk West/Region VI Division I recognition. Ruxandra Flueras made the first team, Maelie Chupin was a second team selection, and Alessia Bergesio received honorable mention.
A libero and defensive specialist from Turin, Italy, Flueras had 538 digs and 4.85 digs per set, both of which ranked seventh in the Jayhawk. Because of eligibility for Covid-19, the 5-foot-5-inch second-year sophomore ends her Trojans career as the school's all-time leader with 1,473 digs.
At 5-9, outside hitter Chupin posted 369 kills and ranked fifth in the Jayhawk with 3.55 kills per set. Defensively, the sophomore from Les Landes Genusson, France, collected 239 digs and nine blocks.
Bergesio was second in the KJCCC with 76 aces and owned the conference's second-best aces per set average (.75). The 5-8 outside hitter from Serralunga d'alba, Italy, tallied 324 kills and had 416 digs.
