The Colby Community College volleyball team moved to 3-0 in Jayhawk Conference play after sweeping Independence Community College Wednesday night at the Community Building, 25-17, 25-16 and 25-20.
Colby setter Kyndal Bacon, named the KJCCC week one and week two Setter of the Week, added another 30 assists. Macarena Ruiz contributed a game-high 13 kills to go with three service aces. Defensively, Elaine Thibadeau led the way with 14 digs while Karleeann Ramos notched 11.
Mar Danes led the Pirates with eight kills and seven digs. Indy falls to 4-6 and 1-2 in the KJCCC.
The Trojans, who are receiving votes in the latest national poll, improve to 10-1 overall. They head into Pratt Sunday to take on the Beavers, 4-9 overall and 1-2 in the conference.
CCC is back at home Wednesday for a 6:30 p.m. start with Hutchinson.
