Double-doubles by Kyndal Bacon, Claire Choloux and Karleeann Ramos helped the Colby Community College volleyball team win the home opener in a sweep of Butler Community College Saturday at the Community Building, 25-11, 25-21, and 25-18. The Trojans are now 5-0 on the season and 1-0 in the Jayhawk Conference.
A large part of CCC's success was the ability to score in bunches. They went up 10-3 in the first set. Even though they trailed 7-2 in set two, they rallied to tie the game at 11. The third set was closer, as Colby held slim margins throughout but never trailed.
For the Trojans, 2018 first-team all-conference setter Bacon had 32 assists to go with 10 digs. Chouloux added a game-high 13 kills and 12 digs, and Ramos collected 14 digs and 11 kills.
Amalie Rupertova's five kills, two blocks and 10 digs led Butler, now 2-4 on the season and 0-2 in conference play.
The Trojans are back in action Wednesday for a 6:30 p.m. start at Dodge City, who will be looking for their first win in eight attempts.
