Trojan volleyball offers skills camps in June
Options for boys and girls ages 3-18
The Colby Community College volleyball program will hold multiple camps in June for students entering first through 12th grades.
Tenth-year head coach Carey Jones and assistant coach Shelby Gardner will lead the camps.
"We are really excited for camps this summer," said Gardner. "It is a good opportunity to have kids of all ages and skill levels learn the game and for us as coaches and players who come back to help share our love of the game with the youth of our community and surrounding areas."
On June 3 and 4, the overnight middle school camp is for participants entering fifth through eighth grades. Instruction will be given on passing, setting, hitting and serving.
A setter clinic will be offered from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on June 7 for students in seventh through 12th grades. Campers will learn specific setting drills in addition to in-depth setter footwork, technique and hand and set placement.
The elementary skills camp, for students entering first through fifth grades, is from 9 to noon on June 5-6. Campers will learn passing, setting, hitting and serving.
The high school skills camp is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on June 26-27. The focus will be on passing, setting, hitting, blocking, defense, serving and serve-receive.
VolleyTots is a camp for boys and girls ages 3-7. The camp is scheduled from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on June 5, 12, 19 and 26. Attention will be given to developing motor movements and hand-eye coordination through a variety of activities.
Fees range from $45 to $115 and include a Trojan volleyball T-shirt. The registration form for all camps is available online. For more information, contact Coach Jones at (785) 269-7728 or Coach Gardner at (785) 443-1800.
