Gorgijevska, Mamic ink letters
Colby Community College volleyball players Nina Gorgijevska and Kristina Mamic signed letters of intent to further their education and volleyball careers at four-year colleges.
Gorgijevska, a 5-foot-7 libero from Potsdam, Germany, signed with Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Mich. As a sophomore for the Trojans, she earned Jayhawk Conference player of the week honors twice. She was third in the conference with 244 digs and tallied 489 overall on her way to earning conference honorable mention. In two years for the Trojans, she was player of the week four times while totaling 1025 digs and 75 aces.
Ferris State competes at the NCAA Division II level as a member of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Last season the Bulldogs went 27-5 and finished ranked No. 14 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association poll.
Next fall Mamic will be in New York playing for the Long Island University Brooklyn Blackbirds. In her sophomore season at Colby, the 6-foot-3 outside hitter from Zagreb, Croatia, was a Jayhawk Conference honorable mention. She totaled a conference-best 55 block assists and was second with 1.27 blocks per set. She completed her Trojan career with 181 blocks and 345 kills.
LIU Brooklyn is an NCAA Division I member of the Northeast Conference. Last season they posted an overall record of 15-9.
