Four hit double figures in 65-54 win over North Platte
Four Trojans scored in double figures as the Colby Community College women's basketball team topped North Platte Community College 65-54 Wednesday night at the Community Building.
In a game attended by only score table help and two broadcasters, the Knights opened with a 3-pointer before the Trojans answered with seven straight and led 14-10 at the end of the first quarter.
Colby built a 21-13 lead early in the second, but North Platte responded with an 8-1 run to pull within a point. After CCC first-year coach James Cole called a timeout, his squad regrouped. Marveen Ross scored four of her 10 first-half points in the final minute, and The Trojans entered the break with a 32-25 edge.
The margin grew to as many as 21 in the third quarter, but CCC was outscored 18-10 in the fourth.
Colby shot 42 percent from the field and forced 31 North Platte turnovers. The Trojans' Katelyn Alatini led all scorers with 16 points. Kiarra Henderson added 13 points to go with eight rebounds, while Kerrigan Johnson and Ross posted 11 and 12 points, respectively.
