Momentum continues for xc in Arkansas
Masondo, Dierks finish first
The Chile Pepper Festival in Fayetteville, Ark., was the latest stop for a Trojans cross country team knocking off collegiate programs at all levels. Saturday, the Colby men finished only behind 16th-ranked (NCAA Division-I) Arkansas University.
Rounding out the top five were 6th-ranked Missouri Southern (NCAA D-II), NJCAA No. 2-ranked Iowa Central, and Kansas State University.
Sanele Masondo was the overall winner with a time of 23:18.4. Ricardo Barbosa (24.21) and Kgadi Monyebodi (24:27) finished in the top 25, and Remi Chavenaud (24:32.6) finished in 30th place.
The CCC women did not run with a full team. Emily Diercks won the open division of 282 runners after posting a 17.17, which is 1:03 faster than her previous best. Teammates Maissane Jouen (20.11) and Tara Bert (20:19) finished 75th and 81st, respectively.
