Men’s distance medley relay team takes first at nationals
The men's distance medley squad of Luke Sundberg, Dante Sol, Mohammed Baghati, and Ricardo Barbosa are national champions, and the Trojan men took 8th place at the NJCAA National Indoor Track & Field Championships held March 3-5 in Pittsburg.
The foursome broke the CCC record by nearly 13 seconds after turning in a time of 9:51.92.
Barbosa was also a national runner-up in the mile (4.08.67) and the 3000-meter run (8:12.61). Both times place him second in the school record book.
Sanele Masondo placed 4th in the 3000m (8:23.67) and is now fourth all-time on the CCC list. He also earned 3rd in the 5000m, finishing in 14:23.26 and second in school history.
Sundberg was 7th in the 1000m, running a 2:31.15.

Sol, 14th place in the 200m (21:67).
Tom Thierry, 14th place in the 1000m (2:31.02).
Baghati, 21st place in the mile (4:19.56).
Remi Chavenaud, 9th place in the 3000m (8:27.66).
Six women also competed at the national meet with the following finishes:
Regan Hodsden, 10th place in the 5000m (18:51.19) and 19th place in the 3000m (11:07.04).
Princess Browne, 11th place in the triple jump (37' 5.25") and 15th place in the long jump (17' 7").
Savannah Adams, 11th place in the shot put (39' 6.5").
Saqqary Baker, 11th place in the weight throw (46' 8.25").
Azriel Chadderton, 14th place in the 60m hurdles (9.09).
Cierra Nord, 17th place in the 5000m (19:32.46).
The men's and women's teams now look to the outdoor track and field season, with the first meet on March 19 in Canyon, Texas.
