Too named Athlete of the Year
The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) named Colby Community College sophomore Nehemia Too as the men's indoor track athlete of the year.
Too scored a remarkable 28 points at the NJCAA Indoor Championships earlier this month after victories in the mile (4:15.68) and 5000-meter (14:24.93), as well as a runner-up finish in the 3000m (8:18.88).
He entered the meet ranked first nationally in the 3000m at 8:12.78, which is the second-fastest all-conditions mark in NJCAA history. He was also ranked No. 2 nationally in the 5000m at 14:32.74 and fourth in the mile at 4:12.93. With those times, Too also tops the CCC record books.
Too and his teammates are preparing for the first meet of the outdoor season on March 29, the Alex Francis Classic at Fort Hays State University.
