CCC Names New Cross County and Track Coach
Clinton Fletcher begins in June
Colby Community College announced the hiring of Clinton Fletcher as the head track and cross country coach. Fletcher replaces Cameron Rieth, who resigned in March.
Fletcher is familiar with the Jayhawk Conference, having served as the head cross country and track and field coach at Neosho Community College (2013-15) and Allen Community College from 2007 to 2011. While at Allen, he coached two NJCAA triple jump national champions, 29 NJCAA All-Americans, 24 Region VI champions, and 28 Jayhawk Conference champions. His 2008 cross country squad was the Region VI academic team of the year. In 2010, he was recognized as the KJCCC coach of the year.
From 2011-13, Fletcher oversaw sprints and jumps for NCAA Division I Samford University. During his tenure, the Bulldogs broke several school records, and he coached the 2012 Southern Conference men's freshman of the year as well as five conference champions.
In recent years, Fletcher was an assistant track and field coach at Florida A&M University. Before arriving at CCC, he coached track and taught biology and physical sciences at Hardee County High School in Wauchula, Fla.
"Clinton has a proven track record as a successful head coach at the junior college level," said CCC Athletic Director Mike Saddler. "Not only have his athletes been successful on the track but also in the classroom and the community. I believe he will help Colby continue to excel in the distance races that they are so well known for and also help grow the program in the sprints and jumps."
Originally from Pine Bluff, Ark., he earned a bachelor's degree in exercise science from the University of Mississippi while a member of the Rebel track and field team.
"I appreciate the opportunity to become the head cross country and track and field coach at Colby Community College," he said. "My objective at Colby is to execute my plan and bring an NJCAA championship to Colby Community College. I will represent the athletics program with honor and dignity and look forward to entrenching myself in the Colby community.
He added that he and his "better half" Postenea Louisjeune are parents of a 6-year-old son named Clinton Jacob Jr., and a 1-year-old daughter, Zhuri.
Fletcher officially begins his post on June 3.
