Bio

Jones is in her 15th year leading the Trojans with a career record of 291-188.

Her 2022-23 squad went 14-14 overall. Sophomore libero Ruxandra Flueras was named to the KJCCC West first team, sophomore Maelie Chupin was All-KJCCC Second Team, and sophomore Alessia Bergessio was Honorable Mention.

As her teams have done for years, Jones's 2022-23 Trojans excelled in the classroom, finishing third nationally with a 3.87 GPA team GPA. They were also recognized as a United States Marine Corps (USMC)/American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Academic Team. Additionally, they made the AVCA Honor Roll reserved for teams with GPAs in the top 20% of two-year colleges. Another highlight from last season came when five sophomores signed letters of intent to attend a university.

In 21-22, the Trojans had a 16-14 record and advanced to the Region IV semi-finals after beating Dodge City on the road in the opening round. Three players in the class of 2022 moved on, including MJ Trujillo to Lincoln Memorial University, McKenna Kirkpatrick to the University of Mary, and Marta Roika to Gannon University.

The Trojans played their 2020 schedule in the spring due to Covid. They finished 14-9 overall and lost in the semi-finals of the Region IV Tournament. During the season, sophomore outside hitter Macarena Ruiz was selected as NJCAA and AVCA Player of the Week, and named to the KJCCC West first team. Ruxandra Flueras, Marta Roicka, Claire Choloux, and McKenna Kirkpatrick were recognized with all-conference honors. Academically, the Trojans finished the school year with a 3.6 GPA, landing them in the top 20 in the NJCAA for GPA, on the AVCA All-Academic Team, and also earning a spot as an NJCAA All-Academic Team. Eight players earned NJCAA All-Academic honors.

In 2019, Jones led the Trojans to a 24-7 season as the Jayhawk Conference and Region VI runners-up. Colby landed six on KJCCC all-conference teams, and libero Elaine Thibadeau was named NJCAA Defensive Player of the Week during the regular season. All five sophomores signed with four-year universities after graduation, attending the University of Buffalo, CSU-Pueblo, University of New Mexico, Emporia State University, and Peru State University. The team's 3.8 GPA garnered a place on the AVCA Academic Honor Roll and selections to the AVCA All-Academic and NJCAA All-Academic teams. Individually, 10 players earned NJCAA All-Academic recognition.

The 2018 season was one of the best in school history as the Trojans posted a program record of 27 wins. Six student-athletes made All-Jayhawk Conference teams, including Freshman of the Year Alex Merle. Colby picked up wins over three nationally-ranked teams and had winning streaks of 15 and 10. Of their four losses, three came to schools ranked in the top 15. The Trojans ended the year with a 3.7 cumulative GPA, and 11 players were named to NJCAA All-Academic teams. After graduating, six of the eight sophomores signed letters of intent with competitive four-year programs across the United States.

Before moving to Colby, Jones was the head volleyball coach at Andale High School in 2008. She spent the 2006 season as an assistant coach at Garden City Community College.

Jones attended Cottey College in Nevada, Mo., where she was a two-sport athlete playing basketball and volleyball. She transferred to the University of Saint Mary in Leavenworth, Kan., to play volleyball and study sports management and marketing. She was also involved in coaching volleyball at the club level throughout college.

From Fredonia, Kan., Coach Jones is married to Colby native Chad Jones. Chad and Carey have two sons, Zaiden (4) and Kendall (3).
