Ramos going to Peru State
Second-team all-conference OH signs LOI
Former Colby Community College volleyball standout Karleeann Ramos signed a National Letter of Intent to further her academic and volleyball interests at Peru State College in Peru, Neb.
After missing parts of two seasons because of injuries, the 5-8 outside hitter from Aguas Buenas, Puerto Rico, returned with a solid redshirt sophomore year and appeared in all 31 matches on the way to being named to the Jayhawk Conference second team. Her 332 kills led the Trojans, and she was second on the team with 40 service aces and 342 digs. In 2019, Ramos was a vital piece of a Trojans squad that went 24-7 and finished as the conference and Region VI runners-up.
"Karleeann became such an important part of our program, being here for three years," said Colby Head Coach Carey Jones. "She has overcome so many obstacles, and I am so proud of everything she has accomplished during her time at CCC!"
The Bobcats of PSC are led by fourth-year coach Laurie Felderman, who believes Ramos adds many elements to her team.
"Karleeann caught our attention with her explosive swing and contagious energy," Felderman said. "She has a variety of shots that keep the defense guessing as well as a trained eye to read hitters defensively. We are excited to add Karleeann to the Bobcat family!"
Peru State is a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) competing in the Heart of America Athletic Conference.
