Six members of the Colby Community College volleyball team earned All-Jayhawk West/Region VI Division I recognition in 2019. Kyndal Bacon and Milica Djukic made the first team, while Claire Choloux, Karleeann Ramos, Elaine Thibadeau and Macarena Ruiz were named to the second team.
This is the second time on the first team for Bacon, also a 2018 selection. The 5-foot-8 sophomore setter from Newton played in all 31 matches and totaled 1,052 assists this season. She ranked third in the West with 9.23 assists per set and was the conference setter of the week three times. She amassed 2,058 assists in her CCC career, the third-most in program history.
Djukic, a 2018 second-team selection as a freshman, tallied 115 blocks in her sophomore season. She was second in the West with 1.22 blocks per set and second with 96 total blocks. From Belgrade, Serbia, the six-foot-tall middle blocker also contributed 172 kills and had the second-best hitting percentage at .357.
In her freshman season, Choloux recorded 301 kills and ranked fourth in the conference with 33 service aces. The 5-8 outside hitter from Puyricard, France, was the conference week-three offensive player of the week.
After missing parts of two seasons due to injury, Ramos returned with a solid redshirt sophomore year and appeared in all 31 matches. Her 332 kills led the Trojans and placed her fifth in the western division. A 5-8 outside hitter from Aguas Buenas, Puerto Rico, she was also second on the team with 40 service aces and 342 digs.
Ruiz, a right-side hitter from Misiones, Argentina, was third on the Trojans with 275 kills. She finished eighth in the conference with 63 block-assists and her 67 total blocks were 13th-best.
Thibadeau transferred to Colby after playing her freshman season at Adams State University. In her sophomore year as a Trojan, the 5-foot-6 libero from Monument, Colo., posted 492 digs. Her 4.32 digs per set ranked fourth in the western division and she led the West with 58 service aces. Twice during the season, Thibadeau earned conference defensive player of the week honors and was named NJCAA Division I defensive player of the week.
As a team, the Trojans went 24-7, finishing as Jayhawk Conference and Region VI runners-up.
