Archer, Bacon get more recognition
Lead Trojans to six wins in week three
Colby Community College volleyball player Julie Archer was named the week three Kansas Jayhawk Community College Offensive Player of the Week and teammate Kyndal Bacon selected as Setter of the Week.
The Trojans went 6-0 during the period. They had wins over Pratt, and five more at the Cedar Valley/North Lake tournament in Dallas, Texas, that included a four-set victory over No. 7 Hill College.
Archer, from Andale, continued her offensive success with three double-doubles. The 5-foot-10 sophomore averaged 3.3 kills per set over 22 sets, hitting .237. She had 12 blocks, 78 digs, averaged 3.5 digs per set, and had five service aces.
During the week Bacon averaged 9.8 assists per set, tallying 195 assists over 20 sets. The 5-foot-8 Newton freshman had 14 blocks, averaged 3.6 digs per set, and had 24 kills. Additionally, she posted three double-doubles. Bacon was also the week two setter of the week.
CCC remains undefeated at 13-0 and 4-0 in the Jayhawk after topping Hutchinson Wednesday night.
The next home game is at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 19 with Barton Community College.
