All-conference recognition for three Lady Trojans
Archer, Loiseau make first team; Mamic honorable mention
For their play in 2017, Colby Community College volleyball players Melanie Loiseau and Julie Archer have been selected to the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference western division first team, and Kristina Mamic was named honorable mention.
Loiseau, a sophomore setter from Lyon, France, finished with 943 assists and ranked second in the Jayhawk with 10.14 assists per set. A threat from the service line, Loiseau's .56 service aces per set led the conference and tied for fourth best in the nation. She had seven double-doubles and a career-high 56 assists against Barton Community College in the first round of the region playoffs. Loiseau was also a 2016 All-Jayhawk and All-Region second team member, and her 1,945 career assists place her third in CCC history.
As a right side hitter, Archer led the Lady Trojans with 3.40 kills per set. The freshman from Andale also reached double digits in kills 23 times and posted six double-doubles, including career highs in kills (24) and digs (19). Her 371 total kills ranked fourth in the conference and seventeenth nationally.
At middle blocker, Mamic ranked seventh in the conference with 37 total blocks, and her 69 block assists were fifth best. The Zagreb, Croatia, freshman also turned in four games with double digit kills. One of her two 14-kill performances came in a hard-fought win over Barton Community College in the first round of the Region VI playoffs.
As a team, the Lady Trojans finished 23-11 and advanced to the region semifinals.
