Volleyball 5-0 after sweeping Dodge
The Colby Community College Lady Trojans volleyball team won their Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference opener in a three-game sweep of Dodge City, 25-24, 25-18 and 25-12 Wednesday night at the Colby Community Building.
Colby freshman Julie Archer had a double-double with a season-high 14 kills while chipping in 11 digs. Karleeann Ramos and Brynn Niblock each added eight kills, also season highs for both. Week one conference setter of the week Melanie Loiseau notched 36 assists while the defensive player of the week, freshman teammate Nina Gjorgijevska, had a game-high 17 digs.
After playing in a non-conference tournament Friday and Saturday in Norfolk, Neb., the Lady Trojans (5-0, 1-0) will be at Barton County Sept. 4. They return to the Colby Community Building Sept. 6 against Butler County Community College for a 6:30 p.m. start.
