Two Trojans earn volleyball athletes of the week
Gjorgijevska, Loiseau shine in opening tournament
Colby Community College volleyball players Nina Gjorgijevska and Melanie Loiseau were named the week one Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Division I athletes of the week for their tournament performances in Beatrice, Neb., Aug. 25-26.
Gorgijevska, a 5-foot-7 libero from Potdsam, Germany, debuted her freshman year by tallying 69 digs and averaging 5.31 digs per set. She also passed an average of 2.4 in serve receive in the four-game Southeastern Community College tournament over the weekend.
Loiseau, a second team All-KJCCC selection in 2016, began her sophomore season by averaging 10.38 assists per set and 1.38 kills per set with a hitting efficiency of .394. The 5-foot-10 setter from Lyon, France also led Colby in aces with 14, averaging 1.08 per set.
The Lady Trojans are 4-0 and begin conference play Wednesday night at home against Dodge City.
