Trojan volleyball beats Barton to maintain conference lead
Colby wins eight straight, eleven straight in the Jayhawk
The Colby Community College volleyball team got off to a slow start but found their rhythm to end Barton County's five game win streak Wednesday night at the Colby Community Building, 22-25, 25-23, 25-20 and 25-21.
The Lady Trojans were led by sophomore Aleksandra Malek's 19 kills, 11 digs and four aces. Sophomores Laura Funk added nine kills and Maja Jankovic had a game-high 21 digs.
CCC's solid season is getting national attention as this week they received votes to jump into the NJCAA DI top 20. Wednesday's win moves their record to 20-4 overall. They are and 11-1 in the Jayhawk Conference and continue to hold a one game lead over 9-2 Seward County and Hutchinson, Colby's final two opponents of the regular season.
Friday and Saturday the Lady Trojans will be in Council Bluffs, Iowa, for a tournament hosted by Iowa Western Community College. Their final regular season home game is Oct. 22 against Pratt.
