Sweep keeps Lady Trojans in first
Win is the eighth straight in the Jayhawk Conference
The Colby Community College Lady Trojans volleyball team remained in first place after a three set sweep of the Broncbusters in Garden City Monday night, 25-15, 25-11 and 25-12. The win marks Colby's fifth in a row and eighth straight in the Jayhawk Conference.
CCC controlled about every aspect of the contest. The only time they trailed was during a brief 8-7 Garden City lead in the third set.
The Lady Trojans continued to win with a balanced attack. They tallied 11 services aces. As a team they had 44 kills, contributed by sophomores Aleksandra Malek (14), Laura Funk (9), Taylor Barrett (8), Kendra Kelly (7), and Singryd Valadares (5). Freshman Melanie Loiseau also had a kill to go with her 41 assists.
Colby (17-4 overall, 8-1 KJCCC) continues conference play Wednesday night at the Colby Community Building against Cloud County (10-11, 4-5). Game time is 6:30 p.m.
