Nine Trojans qualify for nationals
Seven freshmen and two sophomores the most since 2014
Nine Colby Community College wrestlers, consisting of seven freshmen and two sophomores, are heading to the national tournament after qualifying at the West Central District Championships Feb. 22 in Miami, Okla.
The nine qualifiers are the most Colby has had since 2014. As a team, the Trojans finished 5th.
Freshman Zach Tucker punched his ticket in the 125-pound class and placed sixth after exiting early due to an injury.
At 133 pounds, freshman Rhett Miner finished in fourth place.
Freshman Rush Fannon was the regional runner-up at 141 pounds.
Freshman Kaena DeSantos finished fourth at 149 pounds.
157-pound sophomore Dino Baldes placed sixth.
Freshman Kody Hahn took sixth at 165 pounds.
Austin Hacker will represent the 174-pound class after the freshman finished sixth.
At 184 pounds, freshman Aiden Smith took fifth.
Sophomore Sean Jackson took fourth at 197 pounds.
The NJCAA Wrestling National Championships are March 6-7 in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
