Trojans qualify for wrestling championships
Rollins, Hernandez, Many, Wesley and Ledesma headed for Council Bluffs.
Five Colby Community College wrestlers earned a ticket to the national tournament after their West Central District Championships performances Feb. 10 at Northwest Kansas Technical College.
Sophomore Otis Rollins (133 pounds) took fourth place. He also qualified in 2017 as a freshman and earned All-American status.
At 157 pounds, sophomore Jonathan Hernandez secured his spot with a sixth place finish. Sophomore Austin Many (165) and freshman Jordan Wesley (174) will represent the Trojans after their fifth place finishes.
Sophomore Gabriel Ledesma also heads to the national tournament for the second time after finishing fifth in district competition.
As a team, the Trojans finished 7th. The NJCAA Wrestling National Championships are Feb. 23-24 in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
