A sluggish third quarter costs the CCC Women's basketball team in their NJCAA Region VI playoff game. After a competitive first half that saw the Trojans moving the ball on offense and finding baskets, they couldn't replicate the same flow against a sophomore-experienced Coffeyville Red Raven squad. As has been the case this season, the defensive effort was solid again, forcing several shot-clock violations and hurried shots. In the end, the experience of the Coffeyville team proved to be the deciding factor as they came away with the 67-52 win and advanced in the Region 6 playoffs.
"I feel bad for our players because we just couldn't sustain the focus during this game. Taking over a program that has missed the playoffs for some time and earning a postseason bid does mean a lot to us, and we should all feel good about where we are at right now. This group is special, as they are the ones who committed to our "WE DO" vision and have worked hard. Sure, we all wanted to win more games, but we did get a foundation of standards and demand that will be built upon moving forward.
Coach Spence continued, "I want To thank our players and assistant coach, Meagan Woodward, for their hard work and investment. We have more ahead of us, and now it's time for Trojan Nation to get involved and help us get to a higher level. Thank you to our crowds at the home games for sticking with us this season; just know we are going to get there. Thank you all, " added Coach Spence.
Colby will turn the page to the 2024-2025 season and focus on finishing the spring semester strong.
