COLBY, Kan. - Colby Community College took care of business on Saturday afternoon as they defeated Northwest Kansas Technical College 69-59 at the Colby Event Center. With the win, the Trojans are now 7-19 overall and 3-18 in the KJCCC. A big third quarter opens the game up, and the Trojans came away with a hard-fought ten-point win today against Northwest Tech.
A sluggish first half saw both teams searching for points and trying to avoid turnovers. The Trojans scrapped and clawed to keep it within reach, being down six at the half. A big third quarter where the Trojans outscored the Mavericks 22-8 gave life to the home team, and they rode it out. The win puts the Trojans in the Region 6 tournament, as of today, something that hasn't been accomplished in some time.
"I'm happy for our players and Coach Meagan for seeing all their hard work pay off. We have more to play for and will continue to work hard. Aryanna Perez had a big game, scoring opportunity points and breaking the game open with her consecutive three-point shots. It's good to see Ary respond the way she has since coming g back from her rib injury that kept her out of several games. It's time for us all to dig deep and keep working hard with Seward coming to town on Wednesday. Added Coach Spence.
Colby will return to action on Wednesday, February 28th, as they host Seward County Community College at 5:30 pm CT in the Colby Event Center.
