COLBY, Kan. - Colby Community College Trojans couldn't keep pace with the second-ranked team in the country tonight in the Colby Events Center. The Trojans fell 69-35 on Wednesday night, as they are now 6-14 overall and 2-13 in the KJCCC. Once again, the Trojans fought hard in stretches against a top-twenty team but couldn't sustain the effort on the offensive end. Competing well on defense is the calling card of a Coach Spence team, but we couldn't find enough baskets to keep up with such a strong team.
There were several good stretches for the Trojans, as we found open shots and created scoring opportunities. The challenge this season, being able to score the ball, was once again the road block.
"Our players appeared to play a little flat tonight and that is mostly because of the strong play from Hutch. Tonight, Hutch had an answer for everything we threw at them and that's a sign of a high level program. We will keep working hard and look forward to the games ahead and having an opportunity to move up the standings for a better position in the Region Six tournament. " added Coach Spence.
Colby will travel to Independence to take on the Pirates at 5:30 p.m. CT on Wednesday, February 7.
