No. 11 Saints over Trojans
Back-and-forth battle ends in Seward win, 62-52
The Colby Community College women's basketball team battled through four quarters with 11th-ranked Seward County but eventually fell Wednesday night 62-52 at the Colby Community Building.
Colby held a 28-26 edge at the intermission after overcoming a sluggish first quarter to outscore Seward 21-9 in the second frame.
Despite a 13-point deficit midway through the fourth quarter, Colby went on a 7-0 run to make the score 57-51. But that was as close as they got, as the Saints added a couple of late buckets to close it out.
Kaitlyn Guillory posted another double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Sia Williams tallied 13 points and Kiara Knight added 12.
Carla Covane led Saints scoring with 17 points.
Colby slips to 8-11 on the season and 3-8 in the Jayhawk Conference. The Trojans are on the road in Hutchinson Saturday. The tip is set for 5:30 p.m. against the fourth-ranked Blue Dragons (20-0, 10-0).
