Trojan women enter break with a win
Beat North Platte 93-39
An 8-0 surge to begin the game set the tone for the Colby Community College women's basketball team in a 93-39 win over North Platte Community College Wednesday at the Community Building.
The Trojans never trailed as they shot 44.7 percent from the field and knocked down 20 of 26 free throws. After turning the ball over 24 times Sunday against Allen County, CCC only had nine Wednesday against the Knights.
Kaitlyn Guillory turned in a double-double for the second straight game with 21 points and 14 rebounds. The Trojans also got 16 points from Sia Williams and 13 from Jordan Dixon. Mauri Scales and Tamia Mobley each chipped in nine points off the bench.
Katie Cox led North Platte with 12 points.
It was the second time in a month head coach Antwain Scales' team matched up with the Knights. The Trojans also won 71-43 in North Platte on Nov. 24.
"I'm extremely pleased with how we played," Scales said. "It's tough to play a team twice in a season, but we made the adjustments and played well."
Colby enters the winter break with a record of 6-6. The wins are the most the program has posted since the 2015-16 team went 12-19.
The Trojans resume conference play in Arkansas City for a 5:30 tip on Jan. 5 with Cowley County.
