Sims Named National Pitcher of the Week

After a dominating five-day stretch, Colby Community College pitcher Abby Sims is the NJCAA Division I Pitcher of the Week.

From April 19-23, Sims posted three complete-game wins. She allowed just two runs in 21 innings while striking out 24 batters. Her best outing was on April 23, when she shut out Southeast Community College on one hit over seven innings while fanning 10.

This season the Syracuse, Utah, sophomore has been the Jayhawk Conference pitcher of the week three times. Her record is 20-5 with a 2.69 earned run average. She ranks first in the KJCCC in wins, complete games (17), and innings pitched (143).

The Trojans, now 34-12, wrap up the regular season on Saturday with a home doubleheader with Seward Community College. The first pitch at Carl Adams Softball Field is at 1 p.m.
