Postseason awards for seven Trojans
Trojans pitcher Abby Sims made the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) and Region VI Plains District second teams, and Kaylee Armstrong, Kiley Avery, Shailey Clark, Kaycee Valencia, Jennifer Williams, and Summer Young were honorable mention all-conference and all-region.
This season's postseason awards continue a five-year stretch in which at least seven players have earned all-conference recognition. The Trojans finished third in the Jayhawk standings with a 19-14 record while going 36-20 overall.
Abby Sims(P); freshman, Syracuse, Utah
Sims went 7-1 with a save over 132 innings. She had 149 strikeouts in 132 innings and posted a 3.60 ERA. In February, she was the conference pitcher of the week after throwing a perfect game over five innings in her first college game.
Kaylee Armstrong(3B); sophomore, Erie, Colo.
Armstrong was ninth in the conference with a.432 batting average, and her 57 runs batted in were eighth-best. She also was in the top 10 in hits (73) and at-bats (169).
Kiley Avery (OF); freshman, Riverton, Utah
Avery had 38 stolen bases, which were fourth-most in the Jayhawk. In 52 games, she hit .386 with 64 hits and scored 58 runs.
Shailey Clark (2B); sophomore, Great Bend, Kan.
Clark hit .314 with a pair of homers while driving in 28 in 102 at-bats.
Kaycee Valencia (UTL); freshman, Clearfield, Utah
Valencia was second on the Trojans with seven home runs and 43 RBI. She posted a .377 average over 45 games, with 46 hits and 11 walks. She was the early season conference player of the week after catching the perfect game thrown by Sims.
Jennifer Williams (C); sophomore, Erie, Colo.
Williams ranked tenth in the conference with 10 doubles. She hit .315 and scored 37 runs in 52 games.
Summer Young (OF); sophomore, Cedaredge, Colo.
Young's 33 stolen bases tied for sixth in the Jayhawk Conference. Hitting .396, she had 55 hits and 21 walks.
