KJCCC honors for Sheppard, Shireman

Colby Community College softball teammates Taylor Sheppard and Laney Shireman were named Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Division I pitcher and player of the week. The Trojans won all six contests.

Sheppard, a sophomore from Rigby, Idaho, earned three victories by striking out twelve and allowing just three runs in eighteen innings of work.

Shireman impressed at the plate with a .588 average. The sophomore from Girard went 10 for 17, including five extra-base hits while driving in eight. She did not strike out during the stretch and also scored three runs.  

The Trojans are 8-6 on the season. They are scheduled to play a Jayhawk Conference doubleheader at Dodge City on Thursday.
