Softball trio ink letters for FHSU
Fox, Haegele, Kagan will be Tigers in 2019-20
Colby Community College sophomore softball players Haley Fox, Mahealani Haegele and Lexi Kagan signed letters of intent to continue their careers at Fort Hays State University in the fall of 2019.
Last season Fox hit .316 with five home runs while driving in 31. The infielder from Colorado Springs, Colo., was second on the club with 15 walks.
In the circle Haegele posted a 3.38 ERA, striking out 80 batters in 128.1 innings. The Colorado Springs, Colo., native also started 14 conference games on the way to an overall record of 18-5. She was named to the Division I All-Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference/Region VI second team.
Kagan, an infielder from Castle Rock, Colo., was also an All-KJCCC/Region VI second team member in 2018. She hit .366 and ranked third on the Trojans with 39 RBIs and her 60 hits were second-best on the club.
The future Tigers and the rest of the Trojans are preparing for the spring season after going 38-15 a year ago. They finished second in the conference.
