The Colby Community College Lady Trojans softball team picked up two Jayhawk Conference road wins in Pratt Wednesday, sweeping the Beavers 12-4 and 10-4.
In the first contest, Pratt took an early lead when Lindsey Loomis hit a second inning double that scored Michelle Castillo to make it 1-0. The lead vanished in the bottom half when Colby plated three on a two-run base hit by Marissa Croft and an RBI single by Jaycie George
After Pratt tied the game in the third, the Lady Trojans' offense went to work and got two more in the fourth for a 5-3 lead.
The big inning for Colby, 23-7 overall and 8-4 in the KJCCC, came in the fifth inning. Hits from Alyssa Long, Kaitlynn Withers, Alexis Kagan, and Katelin Eastman pushed five runners across the plate. An RBI by Katelyn Medina and a sacrifice fly by Haley Fox drove in two more runs in the sixth to make it 12-3.
In the bottom half, Pratt (10-32, 1-15) got their fourth run when Loomis drove in Castillo on a base hit.
Cassi Clouse was the winning pitcher. She lasted six innings, surrendering four runs on six hits while striking out six.
The Lady Trojans continued swinging a hot bat in the second game. In the first inning, a two-run RBI single by George, a single by Katie Adler, and a double by Lanessa Amador gave Colby an early 4-0 lead.
Pratt got on the board in the bottom of the first, on a home run by Makenzie Anderson.
Colby extended the lead to 6-1 in the third, when Croft singled and came home on a home run by Adler. The Lady Trojans added two in the fourth inning, and two more in the seventh on a homer by Kagan.
Pitcher Mahealani Haegele got the win. She went four innings, striking out seven and allowing four runs on seven hits. Whisper Doliwa recorded the final nine outs to earn the save.
Colby now looks to a key home matchup Saturday with Seward County (23-13, 10-0). The first pitch at Carl Adams Field will be at 2 p.m.
