Rodeo posts season-best at Garden
Places second of 18 teams
The Colby Community College rodeo team had its highest placing of the season at the 52nd Annual Broncbuster Rodeo, April 5-7 in Garden City, finishing second out of 18 colleges and universities.
On the women's side, Maddie Lamb, a sophomore from Monument competing in breakaway roping, finished tied for 10th out of 106 entries with a time of 3.1 seconds. Aberdeen, S.D., sophomore Adrianne Schaunaman had a solid run in the barrel racing that had 110 entries.
The men were led by team ropers Tee Whited, a freshman from North Platte, Neb., and Ashland, Neb., sophomore Chance Andersen. The duo placed second in the long round, first in the short round, and first in the average to win the team roping with times of 5.7 and 6.6 seconds in an event that had 95 entries. Freshman Tori Huffman, Burwell, Neb., who in the tie-down roping was second in the long round, sixth in the short round and sixth in the average out of 76 with times of 10.9 and 15.0 seconds.
The Trojans are back in action April 11-13 in Weatherford, Okla., for the 47th Annual Southwestern Oklahoma State University Rodeo.
