Seven All-Americans for Trojan track and field
Barbosa, Masondo are national champs
Seven Trojans earned eight All-America medals as the Colby Community College men's and women's track teams competed in the NJCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships on May 19 through 21 in Hutchinson.
The Colby men finished the meet tied for seventh, scoring more points in the distance events than any other team in the country. Sanele Masondo was the national champion in the men's 5000-meter run with a time of 14-minutes, 31.61 seconds, and ran a 30:31.84 to finish as runner-up in the 10,000. Ricardo Barbosa is also a national champion in the 3000m steeplechase after finishing in 8:51.45. In the 800m, Luke Sundberg (1:52:54) took fourth place, and Mohammed Baghati (3:59.77) placed seventh in the 1500m.
The women's team finished in the top 20. Regan Hodsden placed fourth in the 5000 after running an 18:20.14. Emily Diercks posted a 4:51.44 for a fifth-place finish in the 1500. In the hammer throw, Saqqary Baker was fifth with a distance of 148-11.
