Indoor track ramps up for regionals
Trojans gain three national qualifying marks
As the indoor track and field season winds down, the Trojans recorded three more national qualifying marks during Northwest State University's Bearcat Open on Feb. 5 in Maryville, Mo.
In the women's 3000-meter run, Regan Hodsden posted a time of 10:34. 47. At the national meet, she will also be running the 5k.
For the men, Aled Jones completed the 3000m in 8:45.72. Mohammed Baghati, who qualified in the 800m in January, finished the mile in 4:20.00. Ricardo Barbosa moved up in the CCC record book to second place after winning the mile with a time of 4:08.67.
To date, the Colby men have six national qualifiers in the distance events (800 meters and farther), which is tied for the most in the NJCAA.
On Saturday, a small group of Trojans will participate in the Ichabod Invitational hosted by Washburn University. The rest of the team will prepare for the Region VI Indoor Track & Field Championships on Feb. 19 and 20 in Pittsburg.
