COLBY, KS – The Colby Trojans won their first home game of the season handily, winning with a final score of 80-61 against the Kansas Wesleyan JV Coyotes, taking their overall record to 3-1.
The first ten minutes of the game were an exchange of blows between the two teams, until a putback layup by freshman Ilija Jovanovic, who made his season debut against the Coyotes, took the score to 22-20 in favor of the Trojans. From there, the Trojans would go on an 18 to 4 run and not look back the rest of the game.
Sophomore Khadir Muhammad led the Trojans in scoring with 20 points off the bench, converting on 6 of 9 3-point attempts and a pair of free throws, all of which came in the second half. Sophomore Raphael Nagau-Trouart added 12 points as the game's second-leading scorer, and freshmen Cassius Watkins and Eternity Eguagie each added 11 points on the way to the win.
Colby will have a quick turnaround as they head to Sterling, Colorado to play the Northeastern Junior College Plainsmen on Tuesday, November 12 at 6:00 PM Mountain time.
