At-large bid sends Trojan men to national basketball tourney
CCC makes first appearance in program history
The memorable run continued for the Colby Community College men's basketball team Monday after learning they got an at-large bid in the NJCAA national tournament March 16-21 at the Hutchinson Sports Arena. An eruption of cheers filled the multipurpose room of the Robert Burnett Student Union, where the Trojans were joined by students, staff and community members to watch the NJCAA Selection Show.
After winning the first men's basketball Jayhawk Conference regular-season title in school history, Colby (27-5) is also making their first national tournament appearance and is seeded 11th. The Trojans face 22-seed Monroe College (24-9) in the first round at noon on March 17. The winner will advance to play March 18 at 8 p.m. against No. 6 Florida SouthWestern State, which earned a first-round bye.
Open Spaces Sports will provide live audio coverage of the Trojans games. All tournament contests will be pay-per-view on NJCAA Championship TV.
