Six on men's basketball named all-conference
Sharp Player of the Year; Elmore Coach of the Year
The historic season for the Colby Community College men's basketball team resulted in several honors this week, including both offensive and defensive player of the year awards going to first-team selection Demarcus Sharp. Head coach Rusty Elmore was also named Coach of the Year in his first season.
Sharp is one of five Trojans to earn postseason recognition on a team that went 27-5 and won the first conference title in program history. Eddie Davis was also a first-team selection, and Alex Fanchini, Domonic Harvey, Javion May, and Matt McFarlane received honorable mention.

Demarcus Sharp – Jayhawk West Offensive Player of the Year; Jayhawk West Defensive Player of the Year; First Team All-Jayhawk West
A sophomore transfer from Moberly Area Community College, Sharp was fourth in the conference in 3-point percentage at a 44 percent clip while averaging 16.5 points per game. Defensively, the 6-4 guard from Charleston, Mo., led the West with 2.5 steals per contest. He appeared in all 32 games during the season. Twelve times he played 40 minutes, including a 45-minute overtime outing when he scored a career-high 33 points in the Region VI semifinal game on March 2.
Eddie Davis – First Team All-Jayhawk West
The 2019 conference freshman of the year and honorable mention selection, Davis was the Trojans' scoring leader this season with 17.5 points a game. The 6-7 Port St. Luce, Fla., native also shot 48.4 percent from the field and played in all 32 games.
Alex Fanchini – Jayhawk West Honorable Mention
Fanchini played his sophomore season at CCC and was the club's third-leading scorer at 12.5 points a game. From Forcalqueiret, France, the 6-0 shooting guard was sixth in the conference at the free-throw line, shooting 84 percent. He had a career-high 29 points in a Nov. 30 win over Butler, when he made eight 3-pointers.
Domonic Harvey – Jayhawk West Honorable Mention
A 6-7 freshman from Washington D.C., Harvey led the conference and was fifth nationally in field goal percentage by making 148 of 206 (71.8%). In 30 games, he averaged 11.8 points and was eighth in the Jayhawk with 6.8 rebounds.
Javion May – Jayhawk West Honorable Mention
May tallied 11.6 points and 5.5 rebounds in 31 games. The 6-2 sophomore from Chicago, Ill., was second on the Trojans in shooting, making 55.1 percent of his shots.
Matt McFarlane – Jayhawk West Honorable Mention
A 6-10 Philadelphia, Pa., freshman, McFarlane finished the season averaging 11.2 points and 6.4 rebounds a contest. Appearing in 31 games, he shot 50.9 percent from the field and averaged 1.8 blocks.
