Equestrian team reserve high point at UNL
Engwicht qualifies for regionals
The Colby Community College equestrian team was the reserve high point team in two shows hosted by the University of Nebraska on Feb. 1 in Lincoln, Neb.
Open rider Adrianne Schaunaman was high point rider in Show 1 and reserve high point rider in Show 2 for her combined scores in horsemanship and reining. Points earned qualified sophomore Kayla Engwicht for the regional championships March 1 in Colby. Class winners went to Alexis Penke, Madison Lange, Schaunaman, Engwicht, and Morgan Clinesmith.
"Our team rode great, and we're peaking at the right time as we prepare for western regionals," said Head Coach Shanda Mattix. "They rode smart and were really consistent throughout both shows. We continue to be a strong competitor and are currently sitting in second in our region standings."
The western riders will practice for a few weeks as they prepare for a home show Feb. 29. The hunt seat riders travel next to Colorado on February 22-23.
