Trojans to pitch at universities
Asselin, Simpson, Francis, Olchoway, Morgan, and Johannsen move on
Though the spring baseball season was cut short because of the coronavirus outbreak, Colby Community College pitchers Andrew Asselin, Jesse Simpson, Ethan Francis, Ryan Olchoway, Ryan Morgan, and Duane Johannsen have an opportunity to play at four-year schools.
Right-handers Asselin and Simpson committed to Division II Shorter University. Asselin tossed 10 innings in 2020 and recorded eight strikeouts. Simpson appeared in eight games and struck out 14 over 13.2 innings.
Francis and Olchoway, another pair of right-handed hurlers, signed to play for Division I Northwestern State University. Francis was 3-1 with 15 strikeouts in 20.2 innings when the season ended, and Olchoway logged 15 strikeouts in 10 innings.
Division II Minot State University welcomes Morgan to their pitching staff. Over 11 innings in 2020, the lefty struck out 10.
Left-hander Johannsen is set to throw for Division II University of Charleston. He made six appearances this season with 20 strikeouts in 14 innings.
